Pilot and cabin crew training under one roof

The building covers a length of almost 120 metres and an area of 18 500 m²: two halls each with four flight simulators, a hall for aircraft mock-ups, technology rooms, workshops, open plan offices, training and meeting rooms, and an extensive restaurant area. The
special feature of the new building in Opfikon is that all of the infrastructure needed to train pilots and cabin crew is under one roof.

Major multitec order

Specialists from the Bouygues Energies & Services’ trades heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration and sanitation are involved in the project. Installing all of the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, sanitary installations and electrical technology involves performing the following tasks, among others:

• Ensuring the prescribed climatic conditions in the premises containing flight simulators (each 15 tons) in order to guarantee their optimal performance
• Developing appropriate smoke extraction of the halls for training purposes in energy and ventilation terms
• Installing a refrigeration system and heat pump combination for optimal waste heat exploitation
• Guaranteeing cooling, heating and ventilation of the offices and training rooms
